Reviews of Colon Cleansers – Purity 12

I’ve seen a colon cleanser called Purity 12 marketed lately online and thought that I’d do a review of it. Today I’ll look the product itself and then focus more on the company behind the product. Read on to get a brief view of what Purity 12 may have to offer.

Purity 12 contains 12 of the “most powerful super ingredients.” At least that’s what they claim. These ingredients include pro-biotics bacterium, bromelain, mangosteen, green tea, papaya, grape seed, blue berry, ginger root, and citrus bioflavinoids. Their sites mentions that it is a more “gentle” formula, which might explain why the ingredients make it look more like a diet pill than a colon cleanser. As far as effectiveness goes, I’m just not sure how effective it will actually be at cleansing the colon.

I always look to the Better Business Bureau for information on the companies that are behind the products that I review. In Purity 12’s case, they got an F rating by the BBB. Not a good sign. This was the first of a few different red flags. In Purity 12’s defense, however, there were only 10 complaints filed (not bad, unless the company is brand new). Nevertheless, I’m sure there is a reason that the BBB still gives them an F rating.

One of the reason for the complaints against Purity 12 is because consumers had unexpected charges hit their account shortly after they ordered the “free” 30 days sample. They didn’t read the fine print which states that they are automatically enrolled in a program which ships them new product every month and charges their credit card. If you don’t call and cancel within 15 days of your initial order, you will start seeing charges of $74.95 plus shipping on your credit card. The fact that Purity 12 hides this in their fine print makes me believe this is little more than a classic scam.

The red flags don’t stop there. Their privacy policy isn’t very consumer friendly either. Their fine print states that they have the right to sell your personal information to anyone they desire and there’s basically not much that you can do about it. So if you do enter your information, get ready to start receiving spam email, junk mail, and a load of telemarketers calling you. If you don’t like those things, don’t give Purity 12 one drop of your info.

I also searched online to see if there were many complaints on any of the complaint boards. My search was quite fruitful. There were a number of complaints, most of which regarding “unauthorized” credit card charges and the difficulty in getting the company to cancel the autoship. Not getting refunds was also a commonly found complaint.

To wrap it up, Purity 12 is not worth your time, money, or hassle. I like that they provide a list of their ingredients (something that other’s fail to do), but the ingredient profile doesn’t instill much confidence in it’s ability to really cleanse the colon. They use shady marketing and business practices that have earned them an F rating with the BBB. A rating, which, as far as I can tell, they deserve.
